How to Add Layers to Your Bed
Isn't this bed beautiful! This is the "after" photo. When we saw our client's master bedroom we couldn't wait to go shopping at HomeGoods to give our clients the bedroom they've been dreaming of! When our client came home and saw how we restyled her bedroom she had tears in her eyes. Of course then we had tears too. It's so satisfying to get that response. But we are getting ahead of ourselves. We want to walk you through our process for adding layers to a bedroom. Making it a retreat and relaxing space that you truly deserve!
This is how the master bedroom looked before we started our restyle design. Beautiful furniture was already there, and the walls were painted a gorgeous grey that was offset by beautiful hardwood floors and molding. The bedding and accessories were our main focus. The lamps were too small, and we needed to soften the look and unify the bedding. Our clients are a fun, busy couple with traditional taste. So off we went shopping.
The first layer is fresh white sheets. White always looks clean, fresh, and welcoming.
They already had a down comforter so we looked for a duvet cover. This pattern is beautiful. Neither too masculine or feminine. Blue and green and white! Great color combination.
We added a grey quilt. This color will unify all the grey tones throughout the room. We have it casually folded at the end of the bed.
Then we fold back the duvet, showing the folded white top sheet. We added the sleeping pillows next.
For a king size bed we prefer 3 euro size pillows placed in front of the sleeping pillows.
These decorative striped shams are a perfect addition! They really set the duvet off and leave the impression of a crisp and clean look.
Finally we add a linen throw pillow which echoes the tailored crisp clean look we were hoping to achieve. The creamy mohair throw adds that final touch of cozy softness to this space.
The nightstands needed new decor. HomeGoods was the perfect place to buy all the accessories we needed. These lamps look amazing! They add sparkle and symmetry to this room. The green succulents and leaves bring in a natural vibe and accent the green color in the bedding. The gorgeous concave mirror above the bed is perfect. It adds a sophisticated and glamorous simplicity to the setting.
We loved working on this project! We are especially happy about the delighted response of our clients. So don't be afraid and try layering up your bed!
