Summer can be a time to limit your home decor. To simplify, to reflect the elements and ideas of summer: relaxing, warm weather, easy going mentality, vacation.
Take down heavy drapes and replace with sheer gauzy fabrics. Roll up your heavy wool rugs and walk on cool bare floors. A simple bouquet of flowers from your garden on a bare wood table. A glass bowl with bits of sea glass. A few sea shells scattered about. A couple of over sized linen covered throw pillows to sink into on your sofa. Give your furniture and home a chance to breathe and have a vacation of its own.

Even entertaining in summer becomes a relaxing simpler event. A table outside only needs a cloth and candles in a mason jar. Grilled foods, a salad, and fruits of the season complete the evening. And if you are lucky enough to have a fire pit to gather around....then by all means you must have s'mores.
