Obsession with Throw Pillows

Obsession with Throw Pillows

I'm obsessed with throw pillows! It all started when I was a young girl and begged my mom to make euro sized white faux sheepskin throw pillows for my yellow bed. I loved them. When my husband and I were starting out with nothing but low salary jobs, I made throw pillows for our sofa and bed. Thanks to my mom I at least knew how to sew a straight line. They were simply made, but unique and made with the best fabric I could afford. When our daughters were born I was busy making throw pillows for their beds too. I'm not sure exactly why I stopped sewing. I know fabric became expensive and all but one fabric store went out of business here. I really don't love to sew either; it was a means to an end. For whatever reason I started purchasing throw pillows instead.

When I started buying new throw pillows, I found I couldn't part with my old pillow covers. I thought I would get them out and use them again. Of course, then I would get more new pillows and the cycle was repeated. Storing my pillow covers became a problem. I would opt out of buying the pillow insert and just buy the cover. That made things easier but still the piles grew. Then I had pillow categories-Christmas pillows, fall pillows, summer pillows...etc...you get the picture. Stashes of pillow covers everywhere in the house (could I possibly be a hoarder?) Just when I was thinking of making a clean break and get rid of the pillow covers something wonderful happened! Our neighbors were updating their Victorian home. Thrown in their dumpster was an old handmade linen closet. Now all my throw pillow cases are folded and categorized by season and/or color! However the obsession continues, and that linen closet is filling fast.

My personal pillow haven!

I love to have fun with throw pillows. It's easy with all the great textures now. All these faux furry pieces are from HomeGoods. They have a great assortment of textures and colors available. Have fun with it! Sponsored by HomeGoods
