Decorate a Fall Entryway in 3 Easy Steps
I do love decorating for the fall season. However, I realize it can sometimes feel like an overwhelming task. For that reason, I have broken down my home into 'decorating zones'. I concentrate on one decorating zone at a time. It really helps me stay focused. I find I'm also more creative. My first decorating zone is the mantel in the family room. Then I focus my attention to decorate the entryway! Having already decided on a soft color palette for my combination entryway, living room, and dining room I get to work! I go shopping at HomeGoods and look for interesting fall decor items that will fit my color scheme! I love going shopping! I can be so inspired just looking at all the beautiful decor on the shelves.
TEXTURE
Fall is all about beautiful textures! The first thing I do is swap rugs. I think this natural fiber rug is perfect for fall. Fall always reminds me of natural textures. These rustic wooden lanterns filled with dried leaves and pinecones bring the natural textures of fall inside. Velvet pumpkins, pinecones, and leaves expand that theme further is this gorgeous wreath from HomeGoods.
When the fall season arrives, I look forward to wearing cozy sweaters again, so the best choice for a throw pillow is this cozy wool knit against this velvety grey pillow.
SPARKLE
I like using sparkle in all designs! The unexpected pop of gold adds so much warmth and interest. To balance the elegance of this gold glass pumpkin (from HomeGoods) in this setting I used green moss.
The candles in the lanterns will create a gorgeous effect when lit. But I didn't stop there - I put battery timed mini lights around the wreath. When I come home at night, the wreath will be a welcoming sight!
COLOR
Throughout this entryway I have used various tones of green, grey, and gold. The addition of white brightens and freshens this space. The adorable white fox and its unexpected modern texture makes him a standout! Sprinkling white throughout brings continuity to the design. The white candles, mirror, fox, and white (and grey) plaid throw pull all these elements together.
I'm so glad you stopped by to see my fall entryway this year. Remembering to use 3 easy steps of texture, sparkle, and color made decorating my entryway simple this year. Of course my decor is forever evolving! As of the time of writing, real pumpkins haven't hit the grocery stores yet. When they do, I'm sure I'll be adding real pumpkins in the entryway too! Next week I'll be sharing the fall decor in my living room!
Happy fall decorating! xoxo~joan
