Fall Trends for 2016

Fall Trends for 2016

I know it's still August, but I just can't stop myself from thinking about fall decor. I love the fall season! Every year I try to come up with a new look for this season. Of course there will be pumpkins, gourds, leaves, plaids, cozy knits, and faux fur; but somehow displayed differently from before.

Last year my fall accent color was yellow, based on the gorgeous yellow pumpkins I found in Half Moon Bay, CA.

Pantone's top colors for fall 2016 are out. It's always fun to take a look at their color trends. This fall's palette is very soothing and pretty. I don't personally have much in the way of blue decor but I love the look and I'm seeing it everywhere in stores and on-line.

One of the fall trends is the new neutrals or "colorless" design - for instance, having white on white, or white on beige. So your design relies more on textures and shapes rather than color. I love this fresh look for a simple sophisticated space. An all-white bedroom full of texture is always gorgeous.

Here my sofa is all done in creams and white. I couldn't resist adding these beautiful pink peonies (and pink books) to this colorless setting.

A new trendy look for the vignette is emerging this fall - using different styles together to create mix and match spaces in your home. Creative vignettes that incorporate 3 to 5 different pieces used in an unexpected way is a great way to add interest and personality to your home.

This entryway has many different competing styles: modern artwork, vintage mirror, sleek table, traditional vase, funky stools, and an outdoor wicker chair.

The trend of contrasts continues this fall. I love the drama and simplicity of black and white decor. It's fun to use black and white then choose a pop of color as accent.

Here I've chosen gold as my accent color. This style of decorating can be easy on your budget too since your color accents can be added and changed with pillows and throws.

Another great way to add color is by grouping colorful decor items in trays.

Bold graphics are still popular! The brave designer will love putting up a fabulous graphic wallpaper. I'm timid and will stick to throw pillows with a graphic print...like leopard!

A big trend for fall is the curated look. So get out your collections and display them proudly. I think the important thing to remember about this trend is to display something you truly love.

I collect cookbooks and design/style books. They are always stacked around my house in various places. In this photo they are my pink accent color! Below, cocktail books are stacked for easy access and inspiration by the bar cart.

I'm still not sure how I'll decorate for fall but I think these trends will inspire my decor. I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer! Fall is coming sooner than we think...and I can't wait. Thanks for stopping by and remember to have fun with it! Xoxo~joan

Black & white & tan with loads of texture!!! This adorable furry stool is as cute as it is practical for someone like me who loves to put their feet up. Found it at HomeGoods along with the chair!
